ABOUT ME

ABOUT ME

Welcome! Let’s get to know each other.

My name is Casey Medlin, and I’m from Hampstead, North Carolina, a tiny pass-through town between beaches. I’ve lived here on the coast my whole life with my parents and my Goldendoodle George. Coastal life is at the core of my being, and I adore the beach. I graduated from Cape Fear Academy in May 2020, and I’m currently a senior at UNC-Chapel Hill.

I’m a coffee enthusiast, lover of beach walks, reader and writer, Gold Award Girl Scout and theatre nerd. I’m a massive music lover – you can find me in the crowd at any concert or listening to one of my Spotify Playlists.

I adore all things writing and design. I was Editor-in-Chief of my high school yearbook, and my love for that developed into my passion for Advertising and Public Relations, which I am now studying at UNC.

My favorite…

Where I am and where I’m headed

I’m a senior at UNC-Chapel Hill. I’m an Assured Admission student in the Hussman School of Journalism and Media, meaning I applied to the school early and earned admission, granting me the opportunity to be a part of Hussman all four years of college. Here at UNC, I am pursuing a degree in Advertising and Public Relations.

Here’s a bit about my background in media and journalism:

  • I was a member of my high school yearbook, Shoreline, all four years of high school. I was the youngest Editor-in-Chief in my school’s history as I earned the title my junior year, and I served again as Editor-in-Chief my senior year.
    • Both yearbooks I was Editor of won the highest honor a high school publication can win at the state level: a Tar Heel. The books went on to be competitive at a national level.
  • I attended the North Carolina Scholastic Media Institute (run by the lovely UNC-Chapel Hill) all throughout high school, and I served as President of the North Carolina Scholastic Media Association in 2019.
  • In addition to yearbook, I also wrote for our school newspaper, The Hurricane. Sophomore year I served as the Academics Section Editor.
  • I also worked on my high school’s literary magazine, High Tide, serving as Poetry Editor for two years.
  • I was inducted into Quill and Scroll, an honor society for high school journalists.

I am currently a Consumer and Brand Marketing Intern at FleishmanHillard. I have been there since May of 2023, focusing on the intersection of the science of data and the art of storytelling.

In the future, I will grow my personal brand and take on PR and marketing jobs, specifically within the healthcare, entertainment and tourism industries. My ultimate goal is to run my own integrated agency and help clients build their personal brands.
